[ Character's Name ] : Frank Archer
[ Character's Age ] : Archer is given no age in canon, 37 is the age I've been going with.
[ Series ] : Fullmetal Alchemist (2003 anime)
[ Canon Point ] : Post-death

[ History ] : Frank Archer @ FMA Wiki
It's worth noting that "Reole" is called "Liore" in the first anime. "Solf J Kimblee" is called "Zolf J Kimbley", which is a spelling I'll be sticking to for the sake of differentiating between the two of them.
I can provide more information if need be!

[ Personality ] : Archer's personality changes drastically toward the end of the Fullmetal Alchemist anime. It's important to understand who Archer was before learning who he is; the changes are an integral part of his character. Since he is one of the anime-only characters, Archer doesn't have much in the way of personality: He's described as a man who is "devoted to his military duties," which really just means that he's a warmongering asshole. These traits don't change after the automail (if anything, they're amplified; though strangely enough he's less of an asshole after the automail happens). He's very power-hungry and cunning; Archer is one of the few within the military who know that the Homunculi are running things and immediately sides with them. Oh, and he then proceeds to blackmail them months later to ensure he can reinstate a crazy mass murderer because this is a brilliant idea. Obviously he makes horrible decisions. He genuinely believes that all of his ideas are brilliant and whenever things don't go as planned, it's clearly due to outside forces. He never faults himself for anything.

Prior to the automail, Archer actively strives to keep his crazy in check. He fully acknowledges that what he thinks about the world as a whole (everyone is disposable - except himself, of course) and his views on politics and war are certainly removed from the norm. He tends to try to tone his views down a bit to be more socially acceptable while talking with others. It really hasn't worked; anyone who has worked closely with him knows that he's a warmongering douchebag. That brings up another point though; those who have worked with him know just how hard he works. Before he shows up in the series, Archer is an officer working under Maes Hughes within the Investigations department. Anyone in this division with any sort of rank clearly has to be capable of solving crimes with the information given. Archer is smart - he's the first character to figure out that the Homunculi are running things after Hughes' untimely demise.

Finally, Archer and emotions. He's only shown being smug, irritated, or in the midst of shrieking histrionics in the anime; Archer really doesn't like dealing with emotions other than these. These are familiar and he can handle them (sort of). Anything else leaves him questioning just what he's feeling and why. He's aware that this isn't normal, but like hell if he knows how to fix it. Archer gets angry very easily and is prone to taking out his anger on others through some sort of abuse (mostly verbal). He's usually irritated by things not going according to plan, and Archer has a plan for just about everything. He'll do anything (and everything) in his power to accomplish his goals, even if it means breaking rules, putting himself at risk, or trolling Homunculi that could easily kill him without batting an eye. A more detailed description of his personality pre-automail can be found here; though everything has briefly been touched on here.

Archer loses nearly half of his body in the battle at Liore. Scar activates an array to create a Philosopher's Stone, which Archer is accidentally caught up in. Edward Elric manages to create a barrier in time to prevent Archer from being killed (spoilers: he was doing it to protect the remaining soldiers and himself because really, who cares about Archer? Oh, and he was screaming about how Archer is an idiot while doing it). So instead he just loses the left half of his body. The array didn't cut him clean in half - Archer is shown to be missing his left eye and part of the left side of his face, but he's still capable of shrieking and apparently didn't lose half his mouth or anything. His hair is also perfectly intact. Don't ask, no one knows. Anyway, this is important to mention due to the fact that attaching automail in the series requires attaching it to each and every nerve. Edward is shown experiencing extreme pain when his arm and leg are attached. Now amplify that by half a body. Unsurprisingly, Archer was placed on a lot of pain medication in order to proceed with the automail instillation. So while Archer didn't lose any of his mental capabilities, his personality has been drastically altered.

Let's start with speech. Prior to the automail, Archer was prone to saying just what needed to be said and nothing more. Of course, since he is a villain he's not immune to needing to ramble on about his glorious schemes for quite some time - but even these rants are short-lived. With the automail, Archer tends to go on even more extended rants filled with purple prose about how being a weapon is fucking awesome. He has absolutely no brain-to-mouth filter now - the automail apparently rewired his jaw in some bizarre way that lets him keep a gun in his mouth. Literally. So when he's giving orders, he's pretty much yelling out his left ear - which has been rewired into a speaker. If that's not bad enough, he doesn't move his mouth to talk anymore, so he literally has no brain-to-mouth filter. He'll say whatever is on his mind. This never ends well. This is a habit that will be difficult to break here; Archer has spent the past three months without any sort of filter and it will take some getting used to acting normal again.

Archer no longer cares about appearances - at least not when it comes to what he's saying. He's still ridiculously vain despite the automail. He openly prattles on about how amazing the automail is; clearly he no longer cares what anyone thinks of him. This drastic shift is mostly due to the fact that he's actually a threat now rather than the lack of a brain-to-mouth filter, though that certainly doesn't help any.

When it comes to sadism, Archer's gotten even worse. Prior to the automail, Archer wasn't obvious about it (in his opinion; everyone he worked with knew about his warmongering ways). Now? Well, he's half-gun. Come on, what were you expecting? He's very pleased with the power the automail gives him, and wastes no time in commenting on it. He doesn't seem to realize just how horrible the automail looks, or that he'll be stuck like this for the rest of his life. But that's okay because he's a gun! He's not traditionally sadistic in the way that he likes to torture his enemies: He offers Izumi Curtis a chance to join him before preparing to shoot her in the head rather than mess around with her and cause her any further pain. It's not that he's trying to make her passing swift and easy, it's just that he's efficient. Why waste bullets? He'll need those for the bulletspam in the next scene anyway.

Archer's only goal after the automail is to follow orders. Up until this point, Archer has been shown to directly disobey orders if he believes they will hinder him in his quest to obtain power within the military. He confronts the Fuhrer openly and shows very little (if any) respect toward his superior officers. While the latter doesn't change (if only because he's never shown around any superior officers), the automail seems to have kicked this urge out of Archer entirely. He follows the orders he's given and doesn't deviate from them. He's ordered to protect Central Headquarters and only abandons this mission after he hears about the attack on the Fuhrer's manor. After all, he is loyal to the Fuhrer first and foremost. Archer is used to taking orders now, which is quite the change from before the automail. Again, this is something that will take some getting used to.

It's clear that Archer's knowledge of the military hasn't been altered any. He is demoted from Colonel to Lieutenant Colonel (the rank he held when he first appeared in the anime) due to the debacle in Liore, but Archer shows no signs of even recognizing that he's been demoted, much less showing any frustration with it. He demands that the rebels stop shooting at him because he's their superior officer. Oh, and he demands to know what they're doing, too. His brain-to-mouth filter really doesn't work. He has a squad of soldiers that follow him around, but Archer doesn't command them like he had been doing previously in the series. Now that he can fight on his own, he doesn't see the need for them. He isn't above bulletspraying and possibly harming his own troops in order to secure victory. He also nearly strangles one of his soldiers in order to get information out of him, but that's accidental rather than intentional. Strangling the guy you want information out of usually isn't the best idea. ...Then again, this is Archer, and he hasn't been on speaking terms with logic in years...

In summation: Archer was a crazy bitch who lost half his body, got a gun attached to him, became an even crazier bitch, and died. Now he has to function on his own in a strange new world, and let's be real, this is going to be hilarious.

[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] : ✔ Archer is completely fearless. He has the means to destroy anyone who opposes him, so why should he be afraid of anything? He faced down guns, alchemy, a grenade, and a car crash all without batting an eye. This is partially because he’s completely crazy, but that’s not the point.
✔ He is very loyal and won’t change his loyalty to someone unless he absolutely must. Archer places his trust in the military and will trust anyone from Amestris who serves the military. Unless you’re Mustang, Hawkeye, Armstrong, or someone who has already betrayed him. He doesn’t forget and forgive easily.
✔ Archer gets one shot with a pistol (not his gun-arm) to hit Mustang before he’s killed by Hawkeye. Not only does he manage to hit Mustang (with his already skewed vision thanks to having one useless, automail-covered eye), he manages to take out Mustang’s eye. Obviously that’s quite the feat that is literally never commented on again in the series. Oh well. Archer’s aim is remarkably good for someone suffering from a grenade blast and a car crash.
✔ The automail is obviously very important here; it serves as Archer’s primary mode of attack and defense. He’s able to withstand so much damage because he has the automail. He’s only killed because Hawkeye has direct access to the human side of him. As long as he has ammo, Archer is capable of attacking with three separate guns: his arm, the cannon in his mouth, and the standard, military-issued pistol. The automail also gives him increased strength (as long as he’s using the automail arm, that is) – he can lift soldiers and swing them around like they’re rag dolls. And he can practically strangle them, but that was an accident. Really.
✘ Physical… anything, really. Archer was in basic training years ago and hasn’t bothered with anything strenuous since. He doesn’t get into fist fights and doesn’t really know how to fight. His automail obvious makes everything much more difficult than it needs to be.
✘ The automail doesn’t just limit Archer physically, it also limits him mentally. He has difficulty remembering things, controlling his brain-to-mouth filter, and the automail obviously requires a lot of upkeep. It prevents Archer from eating and the constant wear and tear on his skin is horrible. Unsurprisingly, he won’t be able to stray far from the coral; he’ll need access to it at least once a day.
✘ Archer is ridiculously rash. He has the means to destroy those who oppose him, so why shouldn’t he? He acts without putting much thought into it, but he does prioritize orders.
✘ Speaking of orders, Archer can’t function very well without them. He used to be capable of giving orders, but this is a bit beyond him in his current state. He can set his own goals and work to achieve them, but they will always come after direct orders from a superior, regardless of whether that superior is actually ranked above him or not.
✘ He’s also ridiculously fickle. If he’s not under orders, Archer isn’t quite sure what to do with himself and he’ll pursue anything that might benefit him in the future. Unfortunately, this means that he’ll be trying to get three different things and end up with none of them because he can’t focus on just one to pursue first.
✘ Archer can hold a grudge forever. Even if it’s over something as simple as a misunderstanding, or if he’s the one at fault. Doesn’t matter – you’ve wronged him somehow, in his opinion, and he will never forgive you.
✘ He doesn’t see the need to befriend anyone; this wouldn’t be as much of a problem if he was back in Amestris, but he’s in a whole new world with no information about it whatsoever. He’s going to need to suck up and play nice. This was something he was good at before the automail, but with the lack of a brain-to-mouth filter and anything resembling decent social skills, it’s going to be very tough.

[ Other Important Facts ] : The automail is an integral part of Archer’s character at this canon point. Because of this, I’ve chosen to let him keep the automail in Vatheon. Due to the way the automail is hooked up, Archer physically cannot eat or drink anything and needs pain medication constantly to keep functioning. The coral will serve as a substitute for this; he’ll need to touch it at least once a day to remain functioning, though multiple times a day would be ideal. The ammo Archer requires for the cannon in his mouth and the gun arm are specially made; he won’t be able to obtain those anywhere but the (whatever it’s called). So once he’s out of ammo, he’s back to being as powerless as usual!

[ Sample ] : This isn't Amestris.

...Alright, that's a bit of an obvious statement, what with the unfamiliar surroundings, unfamiliar people, and strange device he's been studying all day. It's shaped sort of like a star, but it appears to be a means of communication with other residents here in this "Vatheon" place. His ability to gather information certainly hasn't suffered any since the automail instillation. Archer runs his human hand back through his hair, twisting the device in his automail hand as he studies it curiously. It seems that anyone can record videos and post them. How odd. Most of the things he's seen have been horribly droll; he doesn't care about anyone's lives here in Vatheon or the shenanigans they've gotten up to. He's interested in finding out what exactly this place is.

He's hesitant to say it's some sort of afterlife - he's never believed in one before, after all - but what else could it be? He's dead in Amestris. Of course he can't forget that. First Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye shot him in the back. And after surviving so much...! It's unfortunate, but there's obviously nothing he can do about it now. Archer finally pushes himself into a standing position - much easier said than done, but the automail finally complies - and moves to find a few locals to discuss things with. They don't seem scared of his appearance any, though they do eye the gun-arm warily. He does his best to reassure them that no, he's not going to go ballistic and start shooting at any random moment. But should they refuse to provide him with any information, he might well consider killing a few of them to get his point across. He means business.

...And okay, yes, he does like shooting people.

The residents of Vatheon are no help. They can tell him all about the magical coral and how wonderful it is, and they can tell him all about their wonderful god, but they can't tell him a thing about why he's here or how he got here. Archer sighs and finally returns to glaring at the star-shaped communications device. It seems this might be his only hope. He turns it on, ignoring the settings and leaving it on video.

"I need information about this world immediately."

Hmm, that might come off as a bit short. Perhaps he should elaborate.

"I shouldn't be here. Is this place some sort of afterlife? I don't believe in one, but..."

Oh dammit, there he went again, spouting information no one really needs to know. He should work on that.

"Your help would be appreciated. If anyone knows of a man called Fuhrer Bradley, I would like to hear from you as well. For that matter, any of the Amestrian military would be a welcome sight. Thank you for your time."

After a moment of fumbling - it is much too hard to use both hands at once due to the placement of the automail one - Archer finally manages to cut the video and send it. He's not entirely sure how these communications devices work, but he's been receiving video all day and he's certain someone out there will have some information for him. His smirk finally reappears; it will be good to have some idea of what this world is. Perhaps he'll even find a few Amestrian soldiers to order around. Not that he's done any ordering in quite some time, but that's unimportant. Better yet, perhaps Bradley himself is here (he is dead, Archer is fairly sure of that) and he can continue to serve the Fuhrer in this afterlife or whatever it is.

He'd like nothing more than that, honestly.

Two more samples can be found at the bottom here if you feel these will help!

[ Questions? Comments? Concerns? ] : None I can think of! Sorry for the TL;DR though.
